Leeds Art Gallery is located in the heart of Leeds City Centre. It's definitely worth the visit with its extravagant and vibrant walls in the entrance that feature the work of Lothar Gotz. The gallery also has lower and upper areas to explore, with a fantastic centre space that was first shown to the public in 2016, according to the website.

The recent exhibitions at the gallery include Natural Encounters that started in October, which provides a unique interpretation of the natural world through a variety of mediums.

While your waiting to visit the gallery in person, there is a range of activities that can be completed on the galleries website, which includes a virtual choir and book club. The gallery also has its own blog which reveals all the latest news and trends in Leeds art scene.

As we are sure you can remember, Barnard Castle shot to fame last year during the first lockdown. It has since attracted many tourists (in-between the lockdowns of course) but your trip to Barnard Castle would not be complete without a visit to the historic Bowes Museum.

The art museums recent exhibitions included the celebration of the talented 20th century North East artist Norman Cornish and featured works that had never been shown to the public. Another exhibition included the showcase of work from a recent art competition.

Exhibitions to get excited about this year include a beautiful textile based quilt exhibition, which starts at the end of March, ideal for those of you interested in crafts. Another interesting exhibition, due to start in October, features work of Northern artist Martin Kinnear and his interpretation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the museum hosts a popular YouTube channel which can be viewed here.

Whitworth Art Gallery is part of the University of Manchester and is situated just outside Manchester city centre.

Previous exhibitions at the art gallery included an intriguing one of those who occupied the gallery in the 1970's and 80's and a display of interesting tapestry work.

Recent and future exhibitions include "Utopias" which portrays how literature in Britain has constructed ideas of a utopian-based society (pretty cool, right?). The Whitworth will also be hosting a contemporary art show in May which features way too many artists for us to list!

We hope this has given you an idea of which galleries you should visit next after the pandemic, for some much needed inspiration to help you out with your projects!
